About GAR
Civic Enhancement
Civic enhancement, especially through economic development, remained a priority for GAR in 2007 as the Foundation provided direct and indirect support to organizations and proactive initiatives dedicated to community improvement. Among the recipients of GAR funding in 2007 was continued support to the Center for Nonprofit Excellence, for capacity-building services in the greater nonprofit community. Major support by GAR also included a grant to the operations of the Minority Business Accelerator at Kent State University, a major partnership of the Akron Urban League and Akron SCORE.
